Wakala Portal was born from a real problem. Our founders, having worked extensively in Tanzania's mobile money ecosystem, witnessed firsthand the daily struggles of wakala agents - the endless phone calls to find float, the uncertainty of availability, and the time wasted traveling to meet super agents.
In 2024, we asked a simple question: “What if agents could connect instantly through the app they already use every day — WhatsApp?” This insight led to the creation of Wakala Portal, a platform that leverages existing technology to solve real problems.
Today, we're proud to serve thousands of agents across Tanzania, processing millions of shillings in float transactions daily, and we're just getting started. Our journey is fueled by the success stories of agents who have transformed their businesses with our platform.
